I am officially declaring this column a monthly installment. It’s a lovely Sunday morning (even though with the Daylight Savings change, I’m up at the crack of dawn), and I’m putting on the finishing touches on a month-long residency over at Headphone Community, which features the one and only 36 for October. It’s turning out exactly the way I hoped, and as a result, I am connecting with the music (and the musician) on a much deeper level. The next featured artist will be announced in just a few days. You should really join us! There are plenty of excellent albums on here today across a variety of genres. Just take a listen to Brock Van Wey’s incredible release as East of Oceans, then navigate through all the ambient beauty of Slow Blink, øjeRum, and the dearly missed Susumu Yokota, sprinkle in some piano keys from Ruth Maine and Dustin O’Halloran, Autechre-esque glitch from my buddy WNDFRM, and finally drop out with some mayhem from Squarepusher!
